Comfort Food and Winter Warmers

Comfort Food at the Aurora Bar & Grill

The Aurora Bar & Grille

With the 2010-2011 winter season at Alyeska Resort fast approaching there is much for winter sports enthusiasts to be excited about. First and foremost is the snow that’s been falling and setting us up nicely for a great opening weekend! Be sure to pick up your season pass so you are ready to catch first chair on opening day!

Also high on the excitement list is the opportunity for visitors to sample some of the culinary treasures that Alyeska will be offering this winter. Chef Danielle Thomas of the Aurora Bar & Grille will be looking out for all those in need of a hearty warm up on those cold Girdwood afternoons.

How does a cozy table near the fireplace in the Aurora Lounge sound while digging into a homemade roasted chicken pot pie? Or perhaps a hearty order of beef short ribs cooked in Anchorage’s own Glacier Brewhouse Rootbeer will help you achieve your comfort food fix?

Those looking for something light to accompany their afternoon cocktails have not been left out of the mix. Chef Thomas is offering delectable appetizers such as steamer mussels in a spicy tomato sauce, and a grilled prawn cocktail served with a delicious citrus aioli. But the big fish in this sea may be the seared ahi tuna tacos served with a house made tropical fruit salad. Stop in and try for yourself. You won’t be disappointed!

In addition to these culinary delights, the Aurora will once again be offering a seasonal hot drink menu to warm you up after a cold day on the mountain. Enjoy an Irish Coffee or a Muscle Relaxer in the Aurora Lounge while catching up on the day’s sports highlights on one of three flat screen televisions.

It promises to be an amazing winter at Alyeska. Don’t miss out on the good times and good food that will be featured throughout the resort!

There’s a cocktail called a Muscle Relaxer? That sounds nice after a long day of skiing. :)
