Grammy Award winning and 5 time Grammy nominee, Peter Rowan is a bluegrass singer-songwriter with a career spanning over five decades. From his early years playing under the tutelage of bluegrass patriarch Bill Monroe, and following his stint in Old & In the Way with Jerry Garcia and subsequent breakout as both a solo performer and bandleader, Rowan has built a devoted, international fan base through his continuous stream of original recordings, collaborative projects, and constant touring. To open for Rowan, San Francisco-based self-acclaimed honky-tonk band, Whiskey Richards takes the stage. Front man and Alaskan, Chase Christie, is joined by his four gifted band mates touring Southcentral Alaska on behalf of their first EP, The Whiskey Richards. The band also includes Katy Rexford on fiddle, Adam Roszkiewicz on guitar, Joe Kenny on bass and mandolin, and, last but not least, Logan Barrier on drums. The quintet plays a wide range of altcountry, bluegrass, roots and have been known to hammer out a little funk on the side. Girdwood musical darlings, Sarandipity, starts the evening off with their unique acoustic performance on Friday evening. Girdwood local and folk guitar extraordinaire, Spiff Chambers and, Whipsaw’s guitarist Aaron Benolkin, will do the opening honors on Saturday evening with an acoustic set.
