Easter is a great holiday hands down. Celebrating with family over a delicious brunch, hunting for Easter eggs and catching the sunrise in the mountains during an early morning service is what this spring holiday is all about. Alyeska Resort is celebrating all weekend with activities and events for the whole family no matter how old or young. The weekend kicks off Friday, April 18 with the first every Skieaster Easter Bunny ski day. Skiers and riders who show up to any ticket office window dressed up as the Easter Bunny will get two for one lift tickets. Additional prizes will be given out to people who post photos skiing or riding in their costume to Alyeska’s Facebook or Instagram page using the hashtag #skieaster.
Friday and Saturday night at the Sitzmark will feature the high-energy, harmonious blend of the Super Saturated Sugar Strings. This Anchorage based band jams out on piano, guitar, cello, violin and other odd percussion to create their signature sweet, funky, foot-stomping symphony. This show is FREE and starts at 10 p.m. More info and soundclips can be found at www.thesitzmark.com.
Sunday, April 20 is the official Easter holiday and the day begins with the traditional sunrise service held at the upper tram terminal. This non-denominational church service begins at 8 a.m. and runs until 8:30 a.m. Guests receive a complimentary tram upload which will begin at 6:30 a.m.
Directly following the morning service is the annual Alyeska Easter Egg Hunt in the hotel courtyard beginning at 9:45 a.m. There will be thousands of colorful eggs filled with Easter treats hidden throughout the hotel base area for kids of all ages to hunt for. This will also be a great photo opportunity with the Easter Bunny who has said he’ll be on site.
