Quite possibly the most fun thing to happen to summers in Alaska since the invention of the float plane and the fly rod has to be the Alyeska Bike Park which just so happens to be starting up its fourth summer of operations June 27! The 2014 season in the Alyeska Bike Park will consist of top to bottom riding which bikers can access from Bearcub Quad, Ted’s Express and Alyeska’s new Glacier Bowl Express operating Friday – Sunday, 12:00 – 6:00 p.m. Trails range from mellow beginner single track to expert only technical trails and literally everything in between. Whether riders feel like playing in the woods all day or riding in the high alpine overlooking the Turnagain Arm, patrons to the Alyeska Bike Park will be blown away by the quality of trails, features both manmade and natural as well as the natural beauty of their surroundings. Never ridden downhill before? No problem, swing by the Daylodge Bike Hub and sign up for a lesson or mountain tour with one of the friendly instructors. They will be happy to get you comfortable on a downhill bike and get you flowing through the trails before you know it!
All things bike park are centered around the Daylodge Bike Hub; whether you need lift tickets for the day, bike rental with safety gear, the previously mentioned lessons or tour or just a bike wash station to hose down your sweet ride the staff at the bike hub has you covered. The Daylodge Bike Hub will be open Friday – Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Season passes to the Alyeska Bike Park go on sale June 1 and can be added to a 2014/15 winter seasons pass.
