April at Alyeska Resort kicks off in impressive style with new snow and great music featuring Memphis based, alt country/rock n roll band Lucero. Lucero is many things, the base of which is centered on alt-country. With the base of alt-country they add a variety of rock styles including punk rock, southern rock and heartland rock. All of this sound is wrapped up, packaged and performed with undertones of Memphis soul to give them their signature sound.
They’re a band doesn’t have fans as much as they have diehards who come to every show and scream the words to every song from their classic albums like That Much Further West and their latest release Texas & Tennessee, a love letter written in the form of an album to their home state of Tennessee. Lucero is a pack of road warriors who live in their tour van led by front man Ben Nichols on guitar and vocals.
Other band members include Brian Venables on guitar, John Stubblefield on bass, Rick Steff on drums and Todd Beene on slide guitar. These guys are a band that has written plenty of songs about girls, guitars, love, drinking, and life while on the road. This will be the band’s third time performing at Alyeska Resort and it will surely be one of the most energetic shows of the year at the Sitz. Lucero will be fresh off of a New England tour with Dropkick Murphy’s and will surely be carrying over the energy to Alaska. “We’re looking forward to coming back up to the great state of Alaska,” says front man Ben Nichols, “Every time we come up here the fans welcome us with open arms and crazy party vibes; we dig it!” Catch them at the Sitzmark April 3, 4 & 5. Ladies will get in FREE for Thursday night’s performance. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. More details on the show as well as advance tickets can be found online at www.thesitzmark.com
