Oktoberfest 2013

This past weekend kicked off our annual Oktoberfest celebration at the Daylodge in Girdwood, AK. Despite Girdwood’s massive distance from Germany the mountain town comes out in masses to celebrate with live music, great Bavarian food and of course BEER! Alyeska Chef Jason Porter has created an outstanding menu featuring Saurbraten, Pork Schnitzel, Grilled Bratwurst and Beer Braised Schweinehaxe matched with signature sides all of which go down smooth with a tall stein of beer.

The celebration which ran from October 4 – 6 kicked off at 1 pm on Friday with the live music beginning at 4 pm. Alaska Polka Buzz was first up followed by Alaska Blaskapelles which gave patron plenty of Oompah music to dance (and drink) to. Rebel Blues closed out the night with their signature blues sound and their local followers came out in droves.

The second weekend will kick off October 11th at 1 pm with the same great food and beer menu. The music however, will feature different bands. Starting off the celebration will be Chalon followed by Alaska’s Main Squeeze. Closing out on both Friday and Saturday will be Nervis Rex. All music on all days is FREE to all, get there early to get a good spot at the table. PROST!
