The 2013/14 winter season has concluded and summer is right around the corner! The long spring days are a welcomed sight in southcentral Alaska. Along with the warmer temperatures returning, we’re also seeing signs of bears waking up, migratory birds returning to their summer homes and even beluga and humpback whales in the Cook Inlet. Yes, Alaskan summer is so close.
Before we focus our attention on the upcoming summer season at Alyeska Resort, we would like to say thank you to all of you who came out to the resort and enjoyed our slopes, restaurants and concerts. We finished the season with 474″ of snow and had some fantastic powder days along the way. the Sitzmark had great turnouts for some big named bands who came through town including Lucero, Leftover Salmon, Young Dubliners, Mother Hips and Michal Menert along with other local acts who were very excited to play in front of family, friends and like-minded ski/snowboard enthusiasts.
Alyeska Ski Patrol and Snow Safety worked their tails off with avalanche control work in some challenging conditions which is why we were able to opened some great terrain. Our world class lift crew shined as usual and kept the lifts spinning and the tram making laps. And the unsung heroes of the year would be the snowmaking crew, without their valiant efforts laying down a great base some of the most popular groomers would have remained thin.
Yes it’s true that Alyeska has one of the best mountain operations crew around, all the hard work pays out in the form of smiles and customer stoke! Most importantly, thank you for coming out and enjoying Alyeska Resort this winter!
