The Magic of Santa Claus

I’ll preface by saying: I don’t have children. But, I work in an industry where everyone is a child at heart and I ride a lot of chair lifts with kids. It seems whether you REALLY believe in Santa, or just pretend to believe because you know it’s a means to shiny, wrapped boxes filled with goodies, the symbolic nature of one jolly fellow with a team of Alaskan Reindeer and rosy cheeks who can travel the world over in less than 24 hours and bring billions joy, leaves me in awe. I love that ol’ St. Nick is described as a “plump, jolly, white-bearded man wearing a red coat with white collar and cuffs, white-cuffed red trousers, and black leather belt and boots.” (source: Wikipedia) To me, that means the man enjoys a good meal, can pull off color and style, and is approachable – putting everyone he meets at ease. So, put in a DVD of choice (top contenders are: Will Ferrell’s Elf or the classic A Christmas Story), sing-a-little-song and come believe in the magic. If we all wish upon a star, perhaps Santa will bring Alyeska a powder day over the holidays. Cheers!

PSSSST. Santa’s little helper has tipped us off and he will be arriving on snow machine at the Hotel at 6:30 pm on Thursday, December 23rd. See you there!
