Update from the Junior Freeskiing Tour

Zach Halverson checks in from the road:

I’m having a great time on tour again this year. I’m currently 2nd in the national standings of the Junior Freeride Tour. Two of the five events are complete and I’ve placed in the top five for both events. I finished the Junior Freeskiing Nationals at Crystal Mountain in Washington and was 9th after the first day. On the second day, in the finals, my run was 3rd best and it put me in 5th place overall.

In February, I competed in the U.S. Junior Extreme Skiing championships at Crested Butte and took 4th place there—one of the three judges had me in first.

There are about 100 athletes at these comps from around 18–20 different resorts. My friend from here, Tanner Cabana, has also been at these two events and is currently in 6th place overall.  He was 3rd at Crested Butte but he missed making the finals at Crystal Mountain.

Talk to you soon -Zach
