Winding Down

Well, the 2011/2012 ski season is winding down. Sure was a great season!
Don’t really know many places that see 962″ of snow—or how about  96″ in May?

In addition to snow in May, we’ve had some sun too. You can’t beat the view from the top when it’s clear.

I think ski patrollers have a great view from their “office”.
I must admit however, I am ready for spring. I am excited to see the tulips and crocus poking up through the soil. I finally gave in and shoveled off the foot+ of snow left on my flower beds yesterday. I found some bleeding hearts growing under that foot of snow! Have to be pretty hardy to survive the winters in AK!

I dare say our legs can use a break. We have a long season—November through May—that’s alot of skiing but I suppose I can make it another week…

The commute (up the lift) to work these days can be extra exciting—sometimes we see bear, moose, eagles, porcupine while riding up. Nothing this morning though.

As long as the weather and conditions permit, you’ve got one more weekend + Memorial Day to get your skiing in at Alyeska.

Hope to see you on the mountain!
